8 Best Netflix VPNs in 2024 (Unblock From Anywhere)

best netflix vpn

Depending on where you connect to Netflix, you can get drastically different content. What’s more, this streaming service employs geo-blocks from accessing any other content library other than the one in your country. This is where VPNs for Netflix come in. VPN software helps you change your location and access various Netflix regions

Unfortunately, Netflix is known for its ability to block VPN connections pretty efficiently. Most VPNs struggle to offer reliable access to Netflix. On this page, you’ll find the eight best VPNs that work with Netflix efficiently, as well as other useful info and troubleshooting tips that can come in handy when streaming on Netflix and other streaming platforms.

If you want the best VPN for Netflix money can get, look no further than NordVPN. It effectively got around Netflix blocking in every region I tested it

So, whether you want to stream American Netflix, Japanese Netflix, or any other Netflix library, you can do so and enjoy Netflix originals. I’ve tried all of these locations on NordVPN servers several times, and Netflix works without issues on any of them.

Besides being the best VPN for Netflix, NordVPN also easily avoids geo-blocks from other video streaming services like BBC iPlayer, Hulu, and more. It’s the best VPN to unblock any platform you want to access.

The NordVPN server network spans 60 countries, offering over 5,700 different servers in total. Unlike some of my other picks, NordVPN doesn’t have any dedicated streaming servers. Despite this, it managed to be the fastest VPN out of my eight selections.

This is in large part due to the provider’s proprietary NordLynx protocol. This is a sleek and modern VPN protocol built around WireGuard technology that NordVPN claims is up to two times faster than other industry-standard protocols. While I wouldn’t go as far, it certainly delivered fast and reliable connections that not many VPNs could come close to.

NordVPN unblocking Netflix

NordVPN offers great compatibility for streaming devices. You can use its SmartDNS feature to set it up on your Android, Apple, or Fire TV. Of course, if you want to download the Netflix app on your device, you can download any of its well-designed Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android native apps and always have Netflix at the tip of your fingers. So, whether you want to use the Netflix dedicated app, or browser, or set it up differently on any device, NordVPN offers all of these possibilities.

NordVPN is also one of the best VPNs security and privacy-wise. It doesn’t keep any logs and is based in Panama. Moreover, it has advanced features such as Double VPN, Threat Protection, and Dark Web Monitor that make it a great pick for much more than streaming.

Considering that it’s the best VPN for Netflix, NordVPN has reasonable pricing plans. However, it is not as affordable as Surfshark or PrivateVPN, which are more suitable for those who want the most bang for their buck.

Moreover, unlike a few of the Netflix VPNs on my list that offer unlimited simultaneous connections, NordVPN only supports six connections per account.

Pros:

  • Easily unblocks popular Netflix libraries
  • NordLynx protocol delivers super-fast speeds
  • SmartDNS
  • Great compatibility across all streaming devices
  • 30-day money-back guarantee

Cons:

  • Slightly more expensive than some of my other picks
  • You can only connect six devices simultaneously

2. Surfshark

If you want to unblock many Netflix libraries but don’t quite find NordVPN fits your needs and preferences, Surfshark is a superb alternative. It’s one of the top VPNs for accessing Netflix, as only a few VPNs can match the wide selection of libraries Surfshark can access.

Surfshark doesn’t offer any special Netflix-optimized servers. That said, as it has at least one 1 Gbps port on every server and supports the WireGuard protocol, it can deliver good connection speeds across most servers.

Netflix access with Surfshark

As one of the top VPNs for Netflix, Surfshark offers features that support streaming and minimize detection chances. Its split tunneling feature is great if you want to open Netflix regions around the world, while still keeping the rest of your connection on your regular network.

It also has a Camouflage Mode feature, which hides the fact that you’re using a VPN by utilizing obfuscated servers. With Surfshark, you’ll not only enjoy great unblocking power but will also be able to avoid any bandwidth throttling issues from your ISP.

While Surfshark is the second-best VPN with Netflix unblocking capabilities, it does offer a few upsides over using NordVPN. The most apparent is that Surfshark doesn’t limit the number of simultaneous VPN connections you can have per plan. Moreover, it is also a better pick than NordVPN for those on a budget.

Pros:

  • Can unblock most Netflix libraries (including American Netflix)
  • Unlimited simultaneous connections
  • WireGuard protocol provides fast streaming speeds
  • 30-day money-back guarantee
  • One of the most affordable VPNs around

Cons:

  • Slightly slower download speeds than NordVPN
  • VPN for Netflix based in the Netherlands

3. PrivateVPN

🌐 Website:privatevpn.com

If you want a simple VPN to watch Netflix content in HD quality, PrivateVPN is a solid choice. It can easily unblock most Netflix regions. During my tests, it could reliably unblock American Netflix, as well as Netflix Australia, UK Netflix, Japan Netflix, and several other Netflix libraries.

Another significant aspect of PrivateVPN is that it maintains excellent Internet speeds even on remote servers. So, if your favorite Netflix library happens to be halfway around the world, don’t worry.

PrivateVPN’s stable VPN software and servers enable it to maintain a 99.98% uptime. This makes it the most stable VPN for Netflix on my list and a fantastic pick for users who like to stream Netflix in HD in long sessions without any stutters or connection interruptions.

PrivateVPN isn’t good for much more than just Netflix unblocking. It had no issues going around geo-blocks of other popular streaming platforms like the BBC iPlayer or Amazon Prime Video.

Using PrivateVPN with Netflix

Moreover, it’s also a top VPN for torrenting and P2P file sharing. It offers excellent average download speed and above-average upload speed. Moreover, it’s also one of the few VPNs that support port forwarding.

Its VPN apps are easy to use, and you can set up ten simultaneous connections on one plan. That said, if you want a good Netflix VPN for Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, or Apple TV, I would recommend going with one of my other best VPNs for Netflix.

Pros:

  • Excellent speeds for accessing remote Netflix regional libraries
  • 99.98% ensures minimal issues streaming Netflix content
  • Very user-friendly for beginner and casual VPN users
  • Easy to set up on Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android
  • 30-day money-back guarantee

Cons:

  • Fewer server location options than my other picks
  • No static IP address options

4. ExpressVPN

🌐 Website:expressvpn.com
🏢 Headquarters:The British Virgin Islands
📍Servers/Countries:3000+ servers in 94 countries
₿ Accepts CryptocurrencyYes
💸 Deals & Coupons+3 months FREE!

With servers in 94 countries around the world, it’s one of the best VPNs for accessing geo-restricted Netflix regions. ExpressVPN’s strong unblocking power makes it a prime pick for unblocking much more than US Netflix or popular Netflix regions like the UK, Japan, and South Korea.

ExpressVPN has developed a light and fast protocol called Lightway. This protocol offers excellent speeds and is particularly advantageous when accessing the streaming site from mobile devices. This is because it is easier on the battery than other protocols, providing you with more watch time when watching Netflix movies and shows.

It also superbly works with Netflix from authoritarian countries. For example, ExpressVPN unblocks Netflix from China, Russia, and other locations with high censorship. Very few VPNs work in these locations, making ExpressVPN a standout service in this regard.

Watching Netflix with ExpressVPN

Despite outperforming other VPNs in many aspects, ExpressVPN has a few glaring drawbacks that will certainly make it an unsuitable choice for some users. Primarily, it’s not great for users who want to use a VPN on multiple devices or share the service with their household members, as it only supports five connections per subscription .

Moreover, it’s among the most expensive services on my list. Considering these two negatives, I’d say that ExpressVPN is best suited for power users who want a top Netflix VPN with strong online privacy and are prepared to pay a premium price for it.

Pros:

  • Unblocks Netflix, BBC iPlayer, and Hulu
  • Great for Apple TV, Fire TV, Google TV, and games consoles
  • Reliable live chat support
  • Robust privacy and security
  • Dedicated router app
  • 30-day money-back guarantee

Cons:

  • Expensive compared to the other top VPNs on my list
  • Only supports five connections per plan

5. Atlas VPN

🌐 Website:atlasvpn.com
🏢 Headquarters:United States
📍Servers/Countries:1000 servers in 49 locations
₿ Accepts CryptocurrencyYes
💸 Deals & Coupons85% OFF + 3 Months FREE!

Atlas VPN is a superb VPN option for streaming video content on Netflix. This VPN offers great streaming support, as it offers streaming-optimized servers on every continent, apart from South America and Africa.

This top VPN can work with Netflix in the following Netflix regions: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Atlas VPN is one of the cheapest VPN services you can get. And, like Surfshark and PIA, it allows you to connect unlimited devices. Moreover, free users can also look forward to an excellent free version

Netflix unblocked with AtlasVPN

Its free plan offers three servers. Two of these are US VPN server locations and are both optimized for streaming. So, if you want to access American Netflix, this VPN works for free. That said, there is a monthly 5 GB data limit on the free plan, so if you want to watch movies and TV shows regularly, you’ll have to upgrade to its premium plan.

On the downside, Atlas VPN is far from the fastest VPN on my list. Because of this, it’s not among the best Netflix VPNs for accessing remote libraries. This VPN works excellently if you want to access US Netflix from neighboring countries or even Europe. But, if you want to unblock Netflix India or South Korea, for example, I recommend Netflix VPNs which take a higher place on my list than Atlas VPN.

Pros:

  • Can consistently access American Netflix
  • WireGuard protocol offers solid download speeds on nearby servers
  • Only VPN that offers a free plan
  • Unlimited simultaneous devices
  • 30-day risk-free money-back guarantee

Cons:

  • Slow speeds on remote servers compared to most VPN services
  • Fewer servers than most other VPN services

6. Private Internet Access

🏢 Headquarters:United States

Private Internet Access (PIA) is a solid pick for unblocking popular streaming sites like Netflix, Hulu, and others. Its fast speeds are good enough for HD streaming. Moreover, with tens of thousands of servers in its library, you never have to worry about server load and overcrowding.

However, despite having the largest server network out of the eight VPN providers listed on this page, PIA isn’t as capable of accessing as many libraries as the other Netflix VPN providers I’ve discussed above. It can access the American Netflix library fairly reliably. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about Japanese, Canadian, or UK Netflix.

Watching Netflix with PIA

Another negative aspect of this service is that, despite offering fast speeds, it can be unreliable at times. Sometimes, the app can lose connection to the server. This can be annoying if it happens in the middle of a movie or show.

For a long time, PIA had a ten-device limit per subscription. Luckily, it upgraded this offer to unlimited simultaneous connections for all paid subscriptions. This makes it a much more convenient all-purpose service. Plus, its Smart DNS settings for Smart TVs let you change your virtual location on Android TV, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick, and other streaming devices.

Pros:

  • Very capable of unblocking American Netflix
  • Offers more servers than my top pick NordVPN
  • Unlimited simultaneous connections
  • Smart DNS is great for setting up PIA on Smart TVs
  • Plenty of advanced settings
  • Easy setup in just a few clicks

Cons:

  • Unreliable at accessing Netflix catalogs in many other big markets
  • Speeds can be unstable at times

7. CyberGhost

🌐 Website:cyberghostvpn.com
🏢 Headquarters:Romania

What I particularly like about CyberGhost VPN is that it transparently states on its site all of the Netflix locations you can unblock using its services. And, when it comes to this, you can look forward to a wide array of options. From popular options like US Netflix, Netflix UK, and Netflix Canada, you can also unblock Netflix in countries like Brazil, Japan, South Korea, and many more interesting locations.

CyberGhost VPN servers' list

CyberGhost’s dedication to streaming content is apparent, as unlike most other VPN services, it offers streaming-specific servers in its apps. What’s more, CyberGhost neatly organizes all of its streaming-optimized VPN server location options in a separate category in its VPN app

All of its dedicated streaming servers feature tips on what services it best works for. This enables you to pick the optimal VPN server location without much research and start watching Netflix right away.

CyberGhost specialty servers

In addition to many of its VPN servers being optimized for unblocking Netflix and other streaming services, CyberGhost has much more to offer. It can prevent DNS leaks and includes an automatic kill switch in its app. It also offers servers optimized for torrenting and gaming, as well as dedicated IP addresses.

Pros:

  • Very transparent on its servers
  • Offers dedicated streaming server locations
  • Very capable of unblocking Netflix and other streaming services
  • Windows and Android apps are very intuitive to use
  • Outstanding 45-day money-back guarantee
  • Live chat support and detailed support center

Cons:

  • Slightly subpar performance for Mac and iOS
  • Comparably slower on long-distance servers than my other Netflix VPN picks

8. IPVanish

🌐 Website:ipvanish.com
🏢 Headquarters:United States
📍Servers/Countries:2200+ servers in 75+ countries
₿ Accepts CryptocurrencyYes
💸 Deals & Coupons67% OFF Coupon

IPVanish can unblock Netflix in nearly a dozen locations, as its servers work very well in this regard. That said, it fares best for streaming American Netflix, as it can reliably access US Netflix through a handful of servers in different cities. In total, this provider offers 40,000+ IPs across more than 75 locations, so you never have to worry about IP blocks.

IPVanish includes a split tunneling feature that can come in very handy when streaming on Netflix. For instance, you can use it to access US Netflix through the VPN server and keep the rest of your connection on your regular IP address. It also includes DNS leak protection and IPv6 leak protection, two features that minimize the chance of Netflix detecting your VPN traffic.

IPVanish used for unblocking Netflix

You download dedicated apps for Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android devices. You can also set it up for your router or get IPVanish for Fire TV. This provides great freedom for streaming Netflix on any platform that best suits you.

IPVanish offers fairly standard subscription prices, although its long-term deal doesn’t deliver as many savings as you can get with other budget-friendly VPNs. Still, this VPN offers unlimited connections per plan, so you will get solid value for your money overall.

Pros:

  • Great for unblocking US Netflix
  • Fast enough to support 4K streaming
  • Kill switch on Windows, MacOS, and Android
  • Unlimited device connections

Cons:

  • No browser extensions
  • Sometimes struggles to unblock Netflix libraries

Testing Methodology – How We Evaluate and Test VPNs For Netflix

Server Coverage

I analyzed the VPN’s server network to determine its coverage across various countries, including popular Netflix regions like the US, UK, Canada, Japan, and others. The providers that made my top list all offered diverse server networks that could access multiple Netflix libraries without any issues.

Streaming Performance

I assessed every VPN’s speed and performance by conducting speed tests while connected to different server locations. A reliable Netflix VPN should deliver consistent and high-speed streaming. Netflix VPNs with strong and advanced protocols like WireGuard edged out those that lack modern protocol support.

Security and Privacy

I also thoroughly assessed every VPN’s security features, encryption protocols, and privacy policy to ensure user data remains protected. Features like a built-in kill switch, no logs policy, split tunneling, and others, all help the best Netflix VPNs stand out from the rest of the competition.

Additional Streaming-Oriented Features

Most of the services I listed above offer additional features that can be very beneficial for Netflix streaming and using streaming platforms in general. This includes options like dedicated IPs or Smart DNS. If a VPN supports these features, it makes it easier to stream content on Fire TV, Apple TV, and consoles, among others.

User Experience

The overall user-friendliness of the VPN’s apps and interfaces is crucial for the entire Netflix experience. Smooth VPNs apps with an easy setup allow for seamless streaming. Preferably, the VPNs should offer apps for all desktop and mobile device platforms, browser extensions, and support for various smart devices to enable you to watch Netflix on any device of your choice.

Long-Term Performance

Besides ensuring smooth and easy access to Netflix, it’s also essential for the VPN to offer a stable service. Many VPNs are unable to continuously unblock Netflix over time, as their IP addresses get flagged.

To ensure this doesn’t happen with my picks, I monitored every VPN’s performance over an extended period. My tests concluded that the best VPNs for Netflix I listed on this page are very adaptable and able to stay ahead of Netflix’s blocks.

Customer Support

Lastly, good customer support service can play a significant part in the overall VPN usage experience. I’ve interacted with every VPN’s support team to assess their responsiveness and assistance with Netflix-related queries.

All of my picks offer dependable customer support in the form of live chat support and, by and large, offer extensive reading material concerning the most important topics around their services.

Subscription Price

Of course, performance, reliability, user experience, and online security factors top the list when picking a VPN that works with Netflix. However, the real-world fact is that the overall price of the service also plays an important role.

Most VPNs offer similar subscription price ranges. However, some services can be more affordable (Surfshark, Atlas VPN) or have prices that are on the steeper side. When you’re looking for a Netflix VPN on a budget, the tiny monthly subscription differences can add up, so more affordable services get an edge in this regard.

Which VPNs Do Not Work with Netflix?

The eight Netflix VPNs I listed above will deliver the best results when unblocking Netflix libraries in various regions. However, most other VPNs can’t consistently unblock Netflix. Here are a few popular VPN services that won’t work with Netflix:

Hola

Hola doesn’t have a particularly favorable reputation among VPN users, so it comes as no surprise that this service can’t reliably unblock Netflix content libraries. In fact, this VPN is one of the worst in the business when it comes to accessing Netflix. It’s a barebone service that simply doesn’t have the unblocking power to access geo-restricted content on any streaming platform.

Aside from being unable to unblock Netflix libraries, Hola is outright an unsafe VPN. Hola VPN has been in the public eye several times over the years, unfortunately, always for the wrong reasons. Its software has a history of software vulnerabilities that led to many users getting malware on their streaming devices.

AirVPN

AirVPN was a fairly reliable VPN for streaming Netflix in the past. Regrettably, it has fallen off significantly and today doesn’t work with Netflix at all. AirVPN doesn’t have any streaming-optimized servers, so it’s very bad for streaming.

Not only does it not work with Netflix, but it also can’t access popular streaming services like Amazon Prime, HBO Max, or Hulu. While it is a relatively budget-friendly VPN, it doesn’t offer speedy connections, has fairly complicated apps, and has average privacy and security features.

TunnelBear

TunnelBear is a solid and trusted mid-tear VPN service suitable for most online uses. Unfortunately, it’s not a suitable pick if you want a reliable service to regularly access Netflix libraries. This is because TunnelBear is too inconsistent to work with Netflix reliably long term.

I’ve tried a number of Tunnelbear servers, and most couldn’t access my target Netflix library. To be fair, it can occasionally access US Netflix, but not reliably enough to be considered one of the best VPNs for Netflix.

There’s no pattern for TunnelBear’s unblocking capabilities. It can occasionally unblock Amazon Prime Video and HBO Max, but its streaming performance for these platforms is the same as with Netflix.

Opera VPN

Opera VPN is another Netflix VPN that can technically unblock Netflix but doesn’t do so consistently enough to be considered a viable option. When it works, it can unblock Netflix libraries in some of the most popular locations (US, UK, Canada, Australia).

However, most of the time, it will just run into VPN blocks, causing you to lose time and patience trying out different VPN servers. This is the opposite of what you want to do when trying to stream Netflix and relax.

When it comes to this service, it’s also important to mention that this is more of a proxy service than a VPN like the ones listed previously. It’s built into the Opera browser, so it only encrypts your traffic if you use this browser to access the Internet.

Free VPN Providers

Lastly, I want to mention that all free VPNs are unsuitable choices for unblocking Netflix and other popular streaming services. Most free VPNs don’t have the resources to offer diverse server locations and fast VPN traffic.

This means that they often get easily detected and don’t work with Netflix for long. Plus, many free services are unsafe and can even infect your streaming device with malware or steal your personal information.

If you can’t afford a premium subscription or don’t want to get one, the next best thing is to get a limited free version from a premium provider. For example, Hotspot Shield and Atlas VPN are decent Netflix VPN services you can use for free. Moreover, the latter provider is the best free VPN you can use to access streaming services.

Why Does Netflix Have Regional Restrictions?

Netflix has regional restrictions primarily due to content licensing agreements with content creators and distributors. These agreements define the rights and permissions to stream specific shows and movies in particular geographic regions.

If it hasn’t obtained the rights to offer content in a specific country, Netflix doesn’t include it in its library, even though it might feature in other countries. So, it employs geo-blocking methods to prevent users from accessing the stream.

How Does Netflix Block VPNs?

Netflix uses a pretty straightforward system to block VPNs. Netflix blocks VPNs by blocking IPs associated with VPN companies. Netflix can detect this traffic pretty easily. Regular residential IP addresses will only have a handful of users accessing Netflix. If an IP address belongs to a VPN, it will see much more traffic.

Hundreds, even thousands of users, might get assigned the IP address of the same server simultaneously. If Netflix notices this much traffic, it can assume it’s not normal Internet traffic.

Netflix also monitors for DNS leaks, which occur when a VPN fails to handle DNS requests correctly. If a DNS leak reveals a user’s true location, Netflix can use this information to enforce regional restrictions and block access to content that should be inaccessible from that location. This can more often happen when using Android and iOS apps.

To avoid this when trying to stream movies and TV shows on Netflix, I recommend using a VPN with a large server network and thousands of IPs. This way, the chances of many users being on the same IP address are lowered, and you’re less likely to get blocked.

Moreover, even if one server gets blocked, there are always multiple servers you can instantly switch to without any hassle.

Which Netflix Libraries Can You Watch With a VPN?

With a VPN, you can access a wide range of Netflix libraries in any Netflix-featured country where your provider offers VPN servers. With that in mind, one of the most sought-after libraries is the US Netflix one. US Netflix is known for its extensive content catalog and exclusive shows.

Most viewers who use VPNs to access the platform generally do so to unblock the US Netflix library because it offers a vast selection of popular TV series, movies, and original content only available to US Netflix users.

But, apart from the US Netflix library, VPN users can also access Netflix libraries from other countries. For instance, Netflix UK offers a diverse collection of British and international content, appealing to a broader audience with its unique shows and documentaries. In the same breath, Netflix Canada provides a mix of Canadian and global titles, presenting a chance to explore both local productions and international hits.

Similarly, Netflix Japan caters to anime enthusiasts with its extensive collection of Japanese animated series and movies. VPN users can also explore the Netflix libraries of countries like Australia, Germany, France, and others.

Each library showcases its distinctive regional content alongside popular global releases. These libraries provide a more personalized and diverse streaming experience, allowing you to access content that might not be available in your home country. This provides a fantastic opportunity to explore some local gems and enjoy content from other parts of the world.

Netflix Libraries By Country

Apart from setting up a premium VPN for Netflix and getting a Netflix subscription, it’s also good to know which Netflix libraries deliver the best bang for your buck. To help you in this and save you the time on doing the research on your own, I’ve summed up a table of the top ten Netflix libraries in size, listed by country:

CountryNetflix Library Size
United States5,800+
Canada5,700+
United Kingdom5,600+
India5,500+
Australia5,300+
Ireland5,200+
Slovakia5,000+

How To Unblock Netflix With A VPN? – Step By Step

Streaming Netflix with a VPN connection is fairly simple. It won’t take you more than a couple of minutes to set up a VPN that unblocks Netflix. Still, if you’ve never used VPN providers before, I’ll show you how to install a VPN and use it to watch Netflix.

Here’s how to use a VPN to unblock Netflix:

  1. Install the VPN app on your streaming device and log in.
NordVPN app login page
  1. Connect to a server in the location you want to access Netflix (Pick the closest VPN server for faster speeds).

  1. Wait a few seconds for the VPN tunnel to establish. Open your Netflix app or load up the Netflix website.

  1. Enjoy streaming Netflix content!

How To Use Smart DNS For Netflix Streaming

As you can see above, using a VPN for Netflix is pretty straightforward if you’re using the app. But, what can users who like watching Netflix on their Apple TV or gaming consoles do? A simple method is to use Smart DNS services on devices that don’t support VPNs. Several best VPNs for Netflix offer this option. Here’s how to use Smart DNS to stream on Netflix and other streaming sites:

  1. Sign up with a VPN that offers a DNS server (I recommend NordVPN).
  2. Go to your VPN account and find the Smart DNS feature.

  1. Activate the Smart DNS feature.

Netflix VPN Not Working? – Here Are Some Quick Fixes

Any of my eight top Netflix VPN recommendations will allow you to stream Netflix content without much effort. However, errors can occur from time to time, so it’s good to be prepared in case an issue comes up. If you can’t access Netflix, here are some of the most common problems causes and tips on how to fix them:

Fix “You seem to be using an unblocker or proxy”

Whoops something wrong Netflix error message

The cause of this proxy error message is pretty apparent, and it’s that the platform has detected a VPN server and blocked your attempt to access Netflix. The streaming service can sometimes do so if you’re using one of the IPs it has flagged as suspicious.

You’ll see this error when using unreliable or free VPN services, as their IP addresses are most often blocked by Netflix. The solution is equally as simple and obvious as the issue. You can avoid this prompt by using a reliable VPN service, ideally one with streaming-optimized VPN servers.

With that in mind, if this issue persists with your service, the only other fix you can go for is to switch up your VPN provider. A reliable Netflix VPN provider will rarely, if ever, get blocked by Netflix.

Fix “This title is not available to watch in your area”

Title Not avaialbe error message on Netflix

If you see this streaming error message in your Netflix app, it can mean one of two things. Firstly, it could be that you are connected to a VPN server in a country where your desired title is unavailable. In that case, search Netflix libraries online to find a Netflix region where the title is available and then connect to one of the VPN servers in that location.

The second thing it could mean is that Netflix has detected your VPN usage and displayed this message based on this. As in the previous scenario, switching servers is often a simple and quick way to fix the issue.

Fix “Pardon the interruption” – D7361-1253

Pardon the interruption Netflix error messsage

This error doesn’t have anything to do with your VPN service. Instead, the problem most likely lies in your software. A quick but often short-term fix is to restart the display driver. The more effective long-term solution is to upgrade your browser and make sure it’s always running on the latest version. It’s worth mentioning that this error mostly pops up to users accessing Netflix through Microsoft Edge.

Fix Netflix Error Code NW-2-5

Netflix Error Code NW-2-5 message

This is a potentially more complex issue than the previous one, as it can mean many different things. It implies that you have a problem with your entire network, but this issue isn’t necessarily caused by your VPN connection.

But, to completely rule this possibility out, try connecting to a different VPN server or reach out to the VPN’s customer support for more help. If you determine that your VPN isn’t the issue, there are a few additional steps to take.

The simplest fix you can try is to just restart your device. If this doesn’t work, check your Internet connection, and if needed, restart your router. Lastly, you can attempt a more complex fix and tailor your device’s network configuration settings.

Additional Useful Tips When Netflix Isn’t Working With a VPN

The four errors above are the most common ones you will encounter when using VPN apps to access Netflix. However, there are a few more useful tips you can use when Netflix detects VPN on your streaming devices:

  • Clear Browser Cache and Cookies  — If you’re using a web browser to access Netflix libraries, clearing your browser’s cache and cookies might help resolve playback issues.
  • Disable IPv6 — Some VPNs can have compatibility issues with IPv6. Try turning off IPv6 on your device to see if it improves your Netflix streaming experience.
  • Disable Browser Extensions  — Browser extensions, such as ad blockers or security plugins, can sometimes interfere with the VPN’s functionality. Try disabling these extensions temporarily to see if they’re causing the issue.
  • Contact VPN Customer Support  — If you’ve tried the above steps and are still experiencing issues, reach out to your VPN provider’s customer support. They may have specific recommendations or settings to optimize VPN performance for streaming.
  • Use a Dedicated IP Address — Some Netflix VPNs offer dedicated IPs that are less likely to be flagged by streaming platforms like Netflix. Check if your VPN service offers this option and try using a dedicated IP.

Picking The Best VPN For Streaming Netflix – Summing It Up

Netflix has been the leading streaming platform for years. Unfortunately, it also has strict policies regarding geo-restricted content and isn’t even available in certain countries. Luckily, VPNs provide a quick and simple solution to this problem and enable you to access more Netflix libraries.

The eight VPN providers I tested Netflix with delivered stable and fast speeds. Equally important, all of these VPNs work in various Netflix regions, as well as Amazon Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, Hulu, and all other streaming sites.

With that in mind, if you want the best Netflix VPN, my top recommendation is NordVPN. It can access any Netflix region you want to stream in, has thousands of servers, and offers excellent VPN compatibility through browser extensions, desktop, and mobile apps.
